Wildlife Conservation

Much of our property is wetland that is adjacent to the Twelve Mile Swamp Conservation Area.We maintain our pond and wetlands as  a wildlife sanctuary. The rescue animals are excluded from those areas, which are frequented by deer, herons, wood storks, turkeys, ibises,  cormorants and anhingas. A kingfisher resides in a tree at the end of the pond. Swallowtail kites pass overhead in the spring and early summer. Our cats can see the local birds from their outdoor screened areas, but they have no access to the sanctuary wildlife.
